Hypnosis for Anxiety

A natural side-effect of hypnosis is calmness and relaxation. My clients often report generally feeling calmer after having sessions. This is because in hypnosis you access resources within yourself that you don’t normally access and after finding them in hypnosis it makes it easier to access them in normal conciousness. It’s like finding a door to a resource you didn’t know you had. Also, during a hypnotherapy session the source of the anxiety can be found and worked on directly in many cases. Hypnosis alone or alongside psychotherapy is an excellent tool to combat anxiety.

Hypnosis for Insomnia

In many cases insomnia is a side-effect of anxiety. Hypnosis is very effective for anxiety. In some cases insomnia was created months or even years before, when the sufferer had a worrying experience. The situation passed and the worry was left over. However the poor insomnia-sufferer now associates the night time routine and the bedroom etc with not be able to sleep so the insomnia persists. These cases also respond to hypnosis as we teach the unconcious mind to “unlearn” those unwanted associations. Then the sufferer can return to the good sleep patterns they used to enjoy.

Hypnosis for weight loss

Weight can be a complicated issue. We eat to live, so we’re not going to simply give up food. We enjoy the flavour and texture of some foods and we enjoy the effect they have on our mood. This means that in some cases we are using food like a drug in response to emotional desires. With hypnosis we can help in a number of ways. Hypnosis can help to reduce cravings for certain foods. Hypnosis can help to keep you motivated to do exercise. In a few cases people are eating due to childhood trauma and hypnosis can reduce or illiminate the emotional residue from the trauma. Hypnosis can help you to be more relaxed so that you don’t comfort-eat. When I work with hypnois I address all these issues to maximise the chances of success. I try to organise things so that you lose weight and maintain a healthy lifestyle enough to keep the weight off.

Hypnosis to stop smoking

Hypnosis can be very effective to stop smoking. The method I use helps most of the people most of the time. You need to really want to stop and be willing to surrender to the process. You stop smoking after the first session and then there are one or two more sessions to make sure that you never smoke again. For most people, smoking started when they were children because they thought it was cool to smoke and all their friends were doing it. Since then they discovered it’s not cool. It’s just harmful in many ways. So their concious mind knows it’s not good but their unconcious mind doesn’t know that and is sending signals to smoke. It only knows what it learnt as a child. So in hypnosis we go down to the unconcious mind and show it the updated ideas. That way we bring unconcious and concious into agreement and the cravings go down because the unconcious is on board.

Hypnosis for depression

Hypnosis can be very effective for depression. The very first thing a depressed person needs is relaxation. Depression comes from anxiety. By learning to relax deeply with hypnosis we lower the anxiety. Then the depression starts to lift. It typically takes five or six sessions for the lift to happen.

Does hypnosis really work?

This research paper contains all the data to support the evidence. It states that hypnotherapy is highly effective in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders. That includes addictions. My personal success rate with smokers is above 80% and seems to be climbing!

What's it like to be hypnotised?

Being hypnotised is the most natural thing in the world. Every night when you fall asleep you pass through the hypnotic state. It’s that state of deep relaxation that you go through just before you fall asleep. You also pass through it briefly as you wake up. When you are in hypnosis you are focussed inwards and your mind and body are both profoundly relaxed. It’s a very pleasurable state. You will be able to hear my voice and relax more deeply or come back to the waking state, all in your own control. It’s me guiding you into hypnosis and you following my instructions to take yourself into the deeply peaceful, tranquil place. It’s there that we’ll replace old out-dated learnings and  beliefs with the new productive ones. This is where we can replace unwanted feelings with better ones. This is where the magic happens!

Can anyone be hypnotised?

Absolutely anyone can be hypnotised. Until relatively recently it was thought that some people could not be hypnostised. Now we know that anyone can. It is only a matter of using the right method for that person. I have never failed to hypnotise anyone who wants it. You have to want it.
